Incumbents Myron Johnson and Lee Gabel win Codington County Commission races

Incumbent Republicans Myron Johnson and Lee Gabel were re-elected Tuesday to the Codington County Commission.

In District 3, Myron Johnson garnered 59% of the vote to defeat independent Justin Pietz. Myron Johnson could not be reached for comment Tuesday night.

In District 1, Gabel accumulated 71% of the vote to win easily over Democratic challenger Raymond Johnson.

“I am looking forward to continuing to serve and appreciate the support of my voters,” he said after the votes were counted. “I also want to congratulate my opponent for running. It’s good to have a race. It keeps everyone honest.”

Gabel said he will use this term to focus on criminal justice in the county.

Republican Randall Schweer was unopposed for the District 5 seat. He will be a newcomer on the commission.
