Independence man killed in NKY motorcycle crash

A 25-year-old motorcycle rider from Independence, Kentucky, was killed in a crash with an SUV on Sunday.

The collision occurred about 3 p.m. at the intersection of Taylor Mill Road (KY16) and Harris Pike (KY 536) in Independence.

A 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe, driven by Paul Bailey, 80, of Covington, turned onto northbound Taylor Mill Road from Harris Pike as a 2015 Harley Davidson motorcycle, driven by Alexander Tye, was southbound, according to Kenton County Police. The vehicles collided in the intersection.

Tye was fatally injured in the collision and pronounced dead at the site of the crash.

The Hyundai stopped in the parking lot of All Creatures Veterinary Clinic and the motorcycle landed on its side in the intersection. Tye was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.

The Kenton County Police Department's Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Unit isinvestigating the collision. Any witnesses to the collision or persons with information in regards to thecollision are encouraged to contact Sergeant Charles Duncan at 859-392-1955.
