India bids farewell to one of its oldest tigers

STORY: The Royal Bengal reportedly died of old age.

He was brought from the Sundarbans forest area to South Khairbari Eco Park in 2008 for treatment after being injured by a crocodile.

District officials offered wreaths to the tiger, affectionately called 'Raja', before the big cat was laid to rest.

According to the tiger census, the country's tiger count stands at 2,967 in 2018, up a third from 2014.
