India celebrates annual Hindu sibling festival
STORY: India celebrated its annual sibling festival
where women tie sacred threads to their
brothers in a celebration of their bond
They also perform a ritual with fire and flowers
"It felt very nice to come here to celebrate the festival. We tied sacred threads on the wrists of our soldier brothers and sisters. It felt very satisfying. My friends and I are very happy."
The festival is locally called 'Raksha Bandhan'
It's held on the full moon of the holy month of 'Shravaan'
