BARKHA DUTT: What I want to say is that the health care system has clearly collapsed, but the failure has not been that of the doctors or of the hospitals or of the frontline workers. They've done their best. We have been failed by policy makers, by politicians. We've been failed by the government that did not think to put in place a contingency plan for the second wave.
- Some help is on the way, including from the US. The White House says it's sending more than $100 million in supplies to help the country, and that includes oxygen support, 15 million N95 masks, rapid tests, and supplies to manufacture over 20 million vaccine doses. Meanwhile, the US State Department is telling US citizens to leave India as soon as possible.
