INDIAN RIVER COUNTY – Live broadcasts of law enforcement activity across the county are set to appear in nighttime showings of a three-hour cable and streaming TV series beginning Friday, officials said.

Camera crews will follow Indian River County Sheriff’s Office deputies and film content for a "COPS"-style show, which will feature the agency over the next few weeks, an agency spokesperson said.

"On Patrol Live" premiered in August 2022 and airs in three-hour blocks on satellite, cable and streaming channel Reelz, according to the website of show producer and host, ABC News legal analyst Dan Abrams.

“We are going to be featured ... for the next few weeks,” said Sgt. Kevin Jaworski. “They’re going to be riding with us multiple days a week.”

“This is the first time its actually been live,” Jaworski added. "...We’re going to be live and they can cut to them at any point."

The agency's first appearance is set for Friday, Dec. 8, airing 9 p.m. to 12 a.m.

“We are excited to show the hard work and dedication of the men and women of the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office," said Sheriff Eric Flowers in a prepared statement. "As a leader in technology and innovation, we believe appearing on the show will allow the public to see how we are preventing crimes and solving problems on a daily basis.”

The show follows activities of law enforcement across the country with narration from Abrams and co-hosts, “to give its audience a glimpse of what it’s currently like to be a police officer in America,” according to Abrams’ website.

The production team behind the former law enforcement show, "Live PD," which aired on A&E, also produced "On Patrol: Live," according to Abrams' site.

The Indian River County Sheriff's Office was set to be featured in a series called "Florida Heat" by the production company which was placed “on hold indefinitely” before a scheduled 2020 premiere.

The agency was featured in at least one episode of "Live PD," showing a late-March domestic dispute call among roommates about COVID-19.

The producers of "Live PD" for A&E, approached Indian River County Sheriff's Office about "Florida Heat" in 2019, Flowers said at the time.

"Live PD" was cancelled after a report revealed the production crew had destroyed footage of the 2019 death of Javier Ambler II in Texas after a traffic stop by Williamson County, Texas deputies, according to USA TODAY.

Its cancellation also followed the Paramount Network-owned show "COPS" cancellation amid national protests after the May 25 death of George Floyd in Minneapolis police custody.
