July 18 meeting

KEY ACTION: Discussed the use of Brotherhood HVAC Stadium, band practice field, and Indian Valley High School gym and classrooms by the Bluecoats Drum & Bugle Corp on Aug. 7-8, 2022.

DISCUSSION: Indian Valley Marching Braves percussion instructor Aaron Davis spoke at the meeting about the positive experience that was had when Music City Drum Corps used the facilities at the school to stay overnight, as well as practice for their competition. Davis and the members of the board discussed the positive impact Music City had on the community members and Indian Valley band members. Davis discussed the possibility of another drum corps group using the high school’s facilities the first weekend in August for a competition, and board members approved.

OTHER ACTION:

  • Adopted a resolution to establish a limit of $500,000 for Blanket Purchase Orders issued for the current Fiscal Year.

  • Accepted the following grants and donations: Reeves Foundation Grant for Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Supplies - $5,000 and Tuscarawas County Board of DD - Technology/Equipment/PD - $25,000.

  • Approved lunch prices and supply fees: Student supply fee remains the same since the 07-08 school year and lunch/breakfast prices the same since the 21-22 school year; Lunch prices are: K-5 Lunch $2.75, 6-12 Lunch $3, Adult Lunch $3.75, K-12 Breakfast $1.50, Adult Breakfast $2, Milk .50. Student instructional supply fee: K-8 $40.00 ($5 discount if paid by Oct. 3), Grades 9-12 as determined by subject area.

  • Approved the continued use of North Coast Shared Service Alliance for substitute teacher management services.

  • Approved a 5-year athletic training services agreement with Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital through July 31, 2027 at no cost to the district.

  • Approved a revised Administrative Salary Schedule effective July 1 through June 30, 2025. Salary increases are 3% for the 2022-2023 school year, 3% for the 2023-2024 school year, and 3% for the 2024-2025 school year

  • Approved the resignation of Tessa Kandel, teacher at Midvale Elementary, effective July 7.

  • Approved the resignation of Chris Stein, bus driver.

  • Approved the following classified contracts: Jessica Doane, Secretary; Joseph Shepherd, Custodian; Tori Cantrill, Custodian.

  • Approved a list of coaches and volunteers for the 2022-2023 school year.

  • Approved a list of coaches and volunteers for the 2022-2023 school year pending certification.

  • Approved an addendum to the contract of Superintendent, Ira Wentworth, reflecting an increase in contribution toward the medical insurance premium from 5% to 6%

  • Approved Chad Peterman as an assistant Varsity Football Coach for the 2022-2023 school year

UP NEXT: The next meeting will be held Monday, Aug. 15 at 7 p.m. at Indian Valley High School in Gnadenhutten, Ohio.
