Indiana American Water to flush Richmond water mains Sept. 6 to Nov. 11
RICHMOND, Ind. — Indiana American Water will flush water mains in its Richmond service area.
The maintenance program will be 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily Sept. 6 through Nov. 11, according to a news release. The annual maintenance is essential to high-quality water service and it ensures fire hydrants operate properly.
“Water main and fire hydrant flushing is an important part of a regular maintenance program for water distribution systems," Richmond Senior Operations Superintendent Duane Crist said in the release. "Indiana American Water consistently meets or exceeds all drinking water standards.”
Indiana American does not anticipate interruptions to water service; however, customers might experience a slight water pressure drop or temporary water discoloration.
When flushing occurs in or near customers' neighborhood, they should refrain from doing laundry. If tap water is discolored, run several cold-water faucets until the water runs clear.
Indiana American Water crews will perform the flushing. They will work out of marked company trucks and will have photo ID badges.
