Indiana basketball's jerseys look different vs. Rutgers. Here's why.

(This story first appeared in February 2022, when these uniforms debuted. IU wore them Feb. 7, 2023, against Rutgers.)

After honoring the 1987 national championship team by wearing replica jerseys from that season against Michigan earlier this season, Indiana wore another alternate jersey against Illinois and Maryland.

The Hoosiers wore cream-colored jerseys from Adidas, taking on one of the official school colors as opposed to the typically used white jerseys at home. The uniform will also have the word "Hoosiers" written across the chest instead of the usual Indiana. This will be the first time Indiana has worn a cream-colored jersey since 2019, when the Hoosiers wore cream to honor the 70th anniversary of former IU player Bill Garrett breaking the Big Ten color barrier.

The jersey will be an Adidas design "honoring Black excellence."
