According to a Monday press release from the Coldwater Police, LifeCare Ambulance transported the 24-year-old victim to Promedica Coldwater Regional Hospital, where he was treated for his injuries.

Police determined Wallis was a passenger in his brother’s Honda SUV headed west on East Chicago Street, U.S. 12 when he and the victim in a Chevrolet pickup truck began yelling at each other.

Both vehicles stopped for the red light at the I-69 southbound ramp exit around 2:39 p.m. when each exited his vehicle and began arguing.

Police said Wallis pulled a knife and stabbed the other man and they continued to fight in the street.

Witnesses said Wallis threw the knife into a grassy field by the exit before getting back into his brother’s car.

The victim thought Wallis would flee the scene, so he backed his pickup truck into the front of the Honda to prevent them from leaving, police said.

Police said the stabbing victim drove his truck into the vehicle the suspect was riding in to prevent it from driving away.
