EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Early on-site voting in Vanderburgh County is taking place at Old National Events Plaza in Evansville until noon May 2, the day before primary election day.

Early voting also will be offered April 25-29 at Central, McCollough, North Park, Oaklyn and Red Bank libraries.

Northeast Park Baptist Church, Cedar Hall School and Old National Events Plaza also will offer early voting on the final two Saturdays of the month, April 23 and April 30.

In Warrick County, early voting will be offered until noon May 2 at the county clerk’s office in the Judicial Center in Boonville, the Lynnville Community Center in Lynnville and First Christian Church of Newburgh.

Voting early in person

It is not necessary to provide a reason for voting early in-person.

It is necessary to show a state or U.S. government ID that displays your photo and name, which must match the voter registration record. The ID must display an expiration date and must be current or have expired after the date of the most recent general election (Nov. 3, 2020).

Voting absentee by mail

To vote absentee by mail, Vanderburgh County voters need to complete an application, which can be found on the clerk's website, and mail it to: Vanderburgh County Election Office, P.O. Box 3343, Evansville, IN 47732-3343. Completed applications must be received and approved in the election office by 11:59 p.m. Thursday, April 21.

Warrick County voters need to mail their absentee ballot applications to: the Warrick County Election Office, One County Square, Suite 220, Boonville, IN 47601. The deadline is the same. The application can be on the county's absentee voting site.

If a voter's application is approved by bipartisan county election officials, a ballot is mailed out. Absentee mail ballots must be received by county elections officials by 6 p.m. on Election Day, May 3, regardless of when they're postmarked.

According to state law, only the voter, the voter’s attorney-in-fact, a bonded courier or a member of the voter’s immediate household may hand-deliver a completed absentee ballot to the county election board.

To vote absentee by mail, it is necessary to declare a specific reason why you cannot vote on Election Day. Among them:

  • You have "a specific, reasonable expectation" that you will be absent from the county on Election Day during the entire 12 hours that the polls are open (6 a.m. until 6 p.m.).

  • You will be confined to your residence, a health care facility or a hospital because of illness or injury.

  • You will be caring for an individual confined to a private residence because of illness or injury.

  • You have disabilities.

  • You are at least 65.

  • You will have official election duties outside your voting precinct.

  • You are scheduled to work at your place of employment during the entire 12 hours the polls are open.

  • You are unable to vote at the polls because of observance of a religious discipline or holiday.

  • Transportation to the polls will not be available.
