Indiana Mom Found Dead, Baby Uninjured After Missing For A Week
An Indiana mother and her 5-month-old, who were last seen on April 12, were found on Tuesday, The Charlotte Observer reports. The baby was uninjured but his mom, 27-year-old Alexis Morales, was found dead. According to The South Bend Tribune, Morales’ cause of death has not been determined.

According to the Observer, Morales and her baby Messiah were last seen driving away from a park where they were attending a gathering.
Police responded to a call to check on a car that looked like the BMW X5 SUV Morales was driving after a Silver Alert was issued in Elkhart County.
The alert was issued for Morales and Messiah on April 18, six days after they were last seen. According to the Observer, it’s unclear why authorities waited so long to issue the alert.
Morales was pronounced dead at the scene and Messiah appeared to be uninjured but was taken to the hospital for observation. Morales’ death is now being investigated as a homicide, according to the Observer.
