Indiana State University student dies Friday evening; no other information available

Oct. 28—An Indiana State University student was taken to a local hospital for emergency medical treatment Friday evening and later pronounced dead.

ISU sent an alert to its campus community shortly after 11 a.m. today (Saturday) concerning the incident. The victim has not yet been identified, nor have the circumstances or cause of death been released.

The alert stated, "We want to respect the family's privacy and will provide additional information as it becomes available."

The alert went on to say that ISU's counseling center will be available immediately in Burford Hall. "Staff will be available to provide guidance, comfort, and assistance to our students, faculty, and staff. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends," the notice stated.

The alert concludes: "Over the coming days, more information will be shared as it is available. If you or someone you know requires support, do not hesitate to reach out to the counseling center directly at 812-237-3939."
