Indianapolis is experiencing very high levels of tree pollen with little relief in sight, according to tracking site pollen.com and others.

On a 1-10 allergy index scale, Indianapolis spent about a week in mid-April sitting at a 9, according to the Asthma and Allergy Network.

Another tracking site has put Indy between a 9 and 11.7 out of 12 over the past week, with tree pollen at a 'very high' level, according to weather.com. Grass pollen is close behind at a 'moderate' level, with ragweed listed as 'low'.

The pollen.com five-day forecast expects little relief for Indy to wrap up April, with levels staying at 7.3 or above.

The 11.7 rating that hit in April is the worst in at least a month, and coincides with what has historically been one of the worst months of allergy season in Indiana.

If you're looking to enjoy the spring despite your allergies, here's a list of products that can bring you relief.

Aside from throwing money at the problem, there are a few things you can do to help yourself.

  • Check pollen counts (Good work, you're already completing step one today) Use this info by moving inside during peak pollen counts, and keeping windows closed.

  • Since you'll be inside with your windows closed, invest in a high-efficiency filter for your home's heating and cooling system.

  • Avoid the clotheslines during peak pollen times, do your laundry indoors

  • Rainy days are your friend, you can expect lower pollen counts and lesser symptoms. Plan your errands around the rainy days for a change. If you do venture out during peak days, toss your clothes in the wash and jump in the shower to keep your house as allergen-free as possible.
