Police sirens

Law enforcement is investigating after police found two people dead in Indianola Friday afternoon.

Around 12:30 p.m. Friday, Indianola police officers made a welfare check at a residence in the 1300 block of East Iowa Avenue, according to a news release. The officers forced their way into the apartment and found two adults who had died, the release says.

Law enforcement, including agents and technicians with the state Division of Criminal Investigation, are treating the deaths as suspicious. Indianola Police Chief Brian Sher said this was an apparent domestic between a man and woman. There is no threat to the public related to the investigation.

Police have not released the names of those who died, pending family notification.

Further information was not immediately available. The investigation is ongoing, and further information will be released in the coming days.
