Indians, OF Santana agree on 1-year deal

The Cleveland Indians on Friday agreed to a one-year, $1.5 million deal with outfielder Domingo Santana that includes a $5 million team option for 2021, The Athletic reported.

Santana, 27, batted .259 with 21 home runs and 69 RBIs in 121 games with the Seattle Mariners last season. His best season came with the Milwaukee Brewers in 2017, when he batted .278 with 30 home runs and 85 RBIs in 151 games.

Over six seasons with the Houston Astros, Brewers and Mariners, Santana is a .259 career hitter with 75 home runs and 232 RBIs.

Santana's contract with the Indians includes a $500,000 bonus for days spent on the roster, which also would increase the money owed on the option year. The deal could max out to $7.5 million.
