Appomattox man in custody after vehicle pursuit ends with barricade in Campbell Co.

UPDATE: 2/9 APPOMATTOX COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — The Appomattox County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) has released new details regarding a vehicle pursuit that led to a heavy police presence in Campbell County on Thursday afternoon.

Just after 4 p.m. on Feb. 8, Appomattox County deputies were called to the 2000 block of Chestnut Mountain Road about a man who had allegedly shot at a woman multiple times outside a home.

While en route to the scene, deputies spotted the man, later identified as Brandon Shane Holton Jr., of Appomattox County, driving a black Ford Fusion, near the intersection of Stage Road and Stonewall Road. Appomattox County deputies said they attempted to stop Holton. However, he led deputies on a vehicle pursuit into Campbell County.

The sheriff’s office said Holten, then allegedly exited the car on Bluebird Lane, ran from authorities, and barricaded himself inside a house.

As negotiations continued, Holten ultimately surrendered and was taken into custody.

ACSO says they were able to locate the woman at the home on Chestnut Mountain Road and confirmed she was not injured during the shooting incident.

Holten was charged with:

  • Felony larceny of a firearm

  • Felony eluding

  • Misdemeanor brandishing a firearm

  • Misdemeanor reckless handling of a firearm

  • Driving suspended

CAMPBELL COUNTY, Va. (WFXR)— An individual is in custody after a vehicle pursuit ended in Campbell County on Thursday, Feb. 8.

Although details remain limited, police told WFXR News on the scene that the chase started in the Appomattox area and traveled through Rustburg.

Police say the pursuit ended on Bluebird Lane in Campbell County after a barricade was set and one person was taken into custody.

The identity of the suspect and possible charges have not been released.
