Indoor soccer: Florida Tropics improve to 16-1-1 after win over Fury
The Florida Tropic recently avenged a previous loss to the Ontario Fury.
In the Tropic’s home opener, the Eastern Division champion fell short 6-5 in regulation but the tables were turned in their next meeting in Ontario, California.
Consecutive goals by Zach Reget, Ricardo Diegues and Victor Parrieras put the Tropics up with 26 seconds left in the fourth en route to an 8-5 win. Diegues executed a spectacular scissors kick goal from the top right of the box that sealed the game.
Diegues also had an assist, which put him up to three points for the game while Ricardo Carvalho scored a goal and had three assists for four points. Reget added two assists for three points.
Florida is guaranteed one of the top three seeds in the MASL postseason after clinching the East title. The Tropics will host their first-ever home playoff game the weekend of April 8-10 against a yet-to-be-determined opponent.
The Tropics (16-1-1) host the Baltimore Blast (10-8) at 1 p.m. Sunday.
