Industrial buildings planned in Raritan Township by Flemington Mall

RARITAN TOWNSHIP – Two buildings with possible warehousing, manufacturing and office uses are proposed on vacant land on Route 202 opposite Flemington Mall.

Flemington 202 Properties, of Waldwick, is scheduled to appear before the township Zoning Board on Adjustment on May 19 for approval to construct the two buildings on the lot which has frontage on northbound Route 202 and then extends back beyond Charles Schwab and Sneakers Plus to homes on Lexington Circle and The Shoppes at Flemington.

The property was sold to Flemington 202 Properties from Urbach Realty, of Cresskill, in 2017 for $1.075 million.

The 12.78-acre lot is assessed at $824,000, and the 2021 property tax bill was $21,613.

The project is before the zoning board because manufacturing and warehousing are not permitted uses on the property.

Waivers also are needed for a number of other proposals including removing more than 55% of the mature woodland tree canopy; more than one ground sign is proposed; a stormwater management structure is proposed to disturb soil within 75 feet of the Bushkill Brook, a tributary of the South Branch of the Raritan River; and more disturbance of steep slope areas than is permitted by township ordinance.

The 7 p.m. hearing will be held at the municipal building off Route 12.
