Indy Patriots football stars celebrate “National Signing Day”

COAL CITY, WV (WVNS) — Just days away from the Super Bowl, football seems to be on everybody’s mind. That was certainly the case at Independence High School.

The Indy Patriots celebrated National Signing Day by having five of their varsity football seniors sign to play at the college level next time they put on their pads.

The senior stars, Derrick Hypes, Fisher Williams, and Micah J. Brown all committed to play at Glenville State University. Connor Bradford signed at Washington & Jefferson College and Trey Bowers signed to play in gold and blue as a West Virginia University Mountaineer next year.

Bowers said making the WVU football team is a huge accomplishment, but he’s still got a lot to prove.

“I mean. Highest level of football. I mean, besides the NFL, Power five, I mean. Yeah, I feel like I’ve always felt like I can play at that level. And, you know, it’s another thing for me to prove, you know, to everyone who doesn’t believe in me that that I can make it. And I have confidence in myself that I can,” said Bowers.

Save the Date for Doggy Valentine

While Bowers is out to prove himself to those that might not know him, Derrick Hypes will not only be joined by his teammates, Fisher Williams and Micah J. Brown, but he will also be joining his sister as they continue the family legacy of lettering at Glenville State University.

Five signings on National Signing Day is definitely an Indy Patriots “W”.
