IndyCar: Dalton Kellett announces he leaves A.J. Foyt Racing

Dalton Kellett announced Tuesday on Twitter that he's leaving A.J. Foyt Racing and the No. 4 machine in the IndyCar Series.

"This is not a conclusion I came to lightly, as both the team and I have dedicated time and effort to putting together a program for 2023," he wrote. "However, at this point, it isn't the right opportunity to move forward."

The 29-year-old Canadian has competed in 41 races over the past three years, with a best finish of 12th in suburban St. Louis in 2021. He has competed three Indianapolis 500s, with a best finish of 23rd in 2021.

"In my time with the team, I grew as a person and a competitor and am proud of my contributions to their program," Kellett wrote. "Being the underdog team is never easy, but we had some moments to be very proud of."

The Foyt team has two full-time drivers set for next year: Santino Ferrucci and Benjamin Pedersen.
