Infant’s death leads to arrest of Reynoldsburg woman

REYNOLDSBURG, Ohio (WCMH) — A 51-year-old woman has been arrested in connection to the death of an infant in October.

According to Reynoldsburg police, Tammra Straughter was arrested on Saturday and charged with murder and endangering children. Straughter was operating an at-home child care service with police saying a five-month-old boy died in her care on Oct. 9.

Before Straughter’s arrest, she was indicted by a Franklin County grand jury. The jurors wrote in their indictment described that she allegedly engaged in abuse of the child that resulted in “serious physical harm” in the use of discipline that was “excessive under the circumstances.”

She is scheduled to be arraigned in Franklin County Court of Common Pleas on Wednesday morning.
