The Arizona Coyotes could be without their top goal scorer for the foreseeable future, the team announced Sunday.
Forward Conor Garland is listed as "week to week" after being evaluated for a lower-body injury that he sustained Friday night against the Calgary Flames. The 23-year-old Massachusetts native went down after colliding with Flames goaltender Cam Talbot.
In 68 games this season, Garland has a team-high 22 goals to go along with 17 assists. It has been a breakout season for the second-year player, who notched 13 goals and five assists in 47 games as a rookie last season.
The injury comes at a particularly bad time for Arizona, which is fighting to get back into the playoff race with only 13 games remaining in the regular season. Entering Sunday, the Coyotes had 74 points, only two points out of the eighth and final wild-card spot.
