For an inaugural season that has mostly been filled with good news, the Coachella Valley Firebirds confirmed some unfortunate news Thursday that one of their top players is out for the rest of the regular season and likely the postseason with an injury.

Andrew Poturalski, who led the AHL in points last year and was third on the Firebirds this season, had surgery on what the team is calling a "lower-body injury" and will be out four to six months.

The regular season ends April 16 and the playoffs end in late June, meaning Poturalski is definitely done for the regular season and almost certainly out for the playoffs, too.

The news release from the team did not specify when Poturalski had the surgery or on what body part.
