Injury forces Ja Morant out for Game 2 of Memphis Grizzlies vs Lakers

Ja Morant has been ruled out for Game 2 against the Los Angeles Lakers due to right hand soreness.

Morant suffered the injury in Game 1 after he reaggravated a previous right hand contusion suffered against the Milwaukee Bucks in the last week of the season.

On Tuesday, Morant participated in the media viewing portion of practice while using only his left hand. His right hand was later wrapped.

Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins later revealed that Morant started dribbling and shooting on Tuesday morning, but he didn't look like himself yet. The team declared Morant a gametime decision due to right hand soreness before ruling him out.

Tyus Jones is expected to start at point guard, and Desmond Bane will play the position when Jones isn't in the game. Wings John Konchar and Ziaire Williams were out of the rotation in Game 1's 128-112 loss, but more minutes will be available in Morant's absence.
