A spokeswoman with the Shawnee County District Attorney’s Office said in a press release that TreMarion E. Logan, 19, has been charged with murder in the second degree. He was previously charged with aggravated battery in connection to the death of fellow inmate Michael R. Kennedy, 41.

Kennedy was declared dead at a local hospital a few days after a reported fight at the Shawnee County Department of Corrections that involved Logan. He was declared dead on Feb. 16, 2024.

On Feb. 12, 2024 a deputy with the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office was sent to the Shawnee County Adult Detention Center at 501 SE Eighth Avenue to investigate a fight between two inmates.
