Inmate convicted of taking part in coordinated attack on fellow prisoner

Oct. 24—An inmate at North Kern State Prison was found guilty Oct. 18 of participating in a coordinated attack on another prisoner Feb. 28.

The Kern County District Attorney's Office said in a news release Tuesday Cristian Lopez was convicted of assault with a deadly weapon by a prisoner and assault by means of force likely to cause great bodily injury by a prisoner.

The release did not name the inmate Lopez allegedly coordinated with in attacking the victim, who also was not identified.

Sentencing is scheduled Nov. 15 for Lopez, who was set to be paroled in June but now will face up to six more years in prison.
