NEW PHILADELPHIA ‒ A man who left a Wintersville correction center and didn't return was apprehended Sunday following a high-speed pursuit from New Philadelphia to Sugarcreek.

Brian Mosher, 38, was taken into custody shortly after 10 p.m. after Sugarcreek police deployed spike strips on Ohio 93, which blew out a tire on a vehicle stolen in Harrison County.

Mosher signed out of the Eastern Ohio Correction Center in Wintersville on Sept. 20. He was supposed to be visiting family on Barnhill Road in Midvale, but never returned.

According to a report from New Philadelphia police, the pursuit began at the intersection of Fourth Street NW and Front Avenue around 9:45 p.m. The chase continued through Ragersville and Baltic, with speeds reaching 110 mph before ending on Ohio 93 near Sugarcreek. Troopers with the Ohio Highway Patrol were also involved.

Mosher was taken into custody by Tuscarawas County Sheriff's deputies.

Mosher was sent to the corrections center by Tuscarawas County Common Pleas Judge Judge Elizabeth Lehigh Thomakos in August after he pleaded guilty to forgery and theft in July. She sentenced him to spend 30 days in the Tuscarawas County Jail following his release from the corrections center in Wintersville.

He was to serve three years on probation afterward. The judge reserved a one-year prison sentence which could be imposed if Mosher violated probation terms.
