- A 37-year-old woman has died after being hit by gunfire on a street corner in Woodside. Now the search is on for the gunman. CBS 2's Christina Fan joins us live from the scene with more. Christina?

CHRISTINA FAN: Well, Cindy, the 37-year-old woman lived inside this [INAUDIBLE] housing complex. She was an innocent bystander, caught in the crossfire, just steps away from her home. Police tell us they found her lying in a pool of blood with a single gunshot wound to the head here. Transported her to the hospital, but unfortunately, she could not be saved.

The shooting happened Friday night around 8:00 PM near 48th Street and Broadway. And for the last several hours, police have been searching for ballistics, as well as surveillance video. They told us the suspect or suspects appear to be gunning for someone else. They missed, and killed 37-year-old Gudelia Vallinas instead. We spoke to an employee of a nearby store who heard the shots ring out, followed by screaming. He told us he ran outside and found Vallinas unconscious and bleeding on the ground.

ZACK ALRADAF: It was just so loud. So loud. All you hear is pop, pop, pop, pop, pop. And all you see is people scattering all over, running away. And it was just unbelievable. First time I'm experiencing this. She was just on the floor. She was-- supposedly, she wasn't part of the shots fired. She was a bystander. So I guess she got caught up into the case, and unfortunately, it happened.

CHRISTINA FAN: And police tell us they are still searching for the suspects involved in this fatal shooting that left an innocent woman dead. So far, no arrests have been made, and they have no persons of interest in custody. We're live from Woodside, Queens, Christina Fan, CBS 2 News.

- Christina, thank you.
