The national skateboard festival Innoskate is finally here. The festival kicked off Tuesday at the Toby Eagle Bull Memorial Skatepark in Pine Ridge and continues today through Saturday at Levitt at the Falls in Sioux Falls.

Innoskate organizers will bring in professional and Olympic skateboarders, inventors, scientist and artists.

There will be discussions on skateboarding in the Native American community, learn-to-skate clinics, a "best trick" contest and hands-on STEAM-based invention activities where people can build their own skate obstacles.

Free concerts on the Levitt stage will feature Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra ensemble, Dessa and Meet Me @ The Altar, all as a way to demonstrate how music is connected to skate culture, according to organizers.

There will also be a mobile skatepark from the Sioux Falls Skatepark Association.

The festival, created in 2013 by USA Skateboarding and The Smithsonian's Lemelson Center for the Study of Invention and Innovation, celebrates "invention and creativity in skate culture," according to The Smithsonian's website.

The Innoskate skateboarding festival continues Thursday through Saturday July 7-9 at Levitt at the Falls in Sioux Falls.
