Get an inside look at $38 million penthouse designed for entertaining

A $38 million tri-level penthouse condominium unit at Icon South Beach has everything an entertainer needs — as well as all the accoutrements for those who might not be quite ready yet to leave the safety of their home to enjoy a film at a theater.

This 7,875-square-foot unit, Penthouse 2 at 450 Alton Road in Miami Beach, has six bedrooms and 10 baths, but it was designed for entertaining by interior architect Richard Geary.

With 270-degree views of Miami Beach, the Atlantic Ocean, Biscayne Bay and the Miami skyline, the unit has a rooftop deck complete with pool, outdoor movie theater, lounge, outdoor kitchen and a lit billiard table.

Additional unit features include a back-lit onyx dining room and bar, a stainless-steel kitchen and a breakfast room.

The master suite features Fendi oak floors, a kitchenette and bar, while the master bath has a Zenlike spa feel, with teak floors and a steam shower.

A glass spiral staircase leads to a guest suite and mezzanine office, and there is over 5,000 square feet of terrace space.

The unit comes with seven air-conditioned garages.

“There are only two upper penthouses in Icon South Beach,” said Dora Puig, broker/founder of Luxe Living Realty in Miami Beach, who holds the listing. “There are only a handful of trophy penthouses in the South of Fifth neighborhood, and this is one of the best ones.”

Completed in 2005, Icon South Beach was developed by The Related Group, with interiors designed by Philippe Starck.

Its amenities include a heated bayfront lap pool, an infinity-edge bayfront swimming pool, a café, a health spa and fitness center. “One of the drivers of Icon sales are the amenities,” Puig said. “The amenities rock in that building.”

Puig said the current owner is selling because he’s from South America and doesn’t visit frequently enough.
