Inside the Luxury Montecito Resort Where Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger Got Married
Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger revealed over the weekend that after about a year of dating, they tied the knot in an intimate ceremony on June 8. And they chose the perfect location for their romantic nuptials, saying “I do” in front of family and friends at the stunning San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, California.
The five-star resort is nestled in the foothills of Santa Barbara and boasts views of the Channel Islands and the Pacific Ocean. It has a 10,000-square-foot upper lawn framed by sycamore trees and the San Ysidro Creek. “This venue offers guests the ability to design a unique and personalized event space for up to 200 guests while utilizing the natural beauty of Santa Barbara and the serenity and privacy of the San Ysidro Ranch,” reads the website’s description of the space.
It is possible the couple exchanged vows on the upper lawn, but they also had the choice of using the property's lower garden, wine cellar, or several buildings (including the Old Adobe, which dates back to 1825) for the day's festivities. In a photo posted by both the Avengers star and the author on their Instagram accounts, they are walking hand in hand along a stone pathway with the main lodge in the background.
The newlyweds didn’t reveal many details of their wedding, except for the fact that Giorgio Armani designed both Schwarzenegger’s gown and Pratt’s suit. But People reported the beautiful space was outfitted with “lots of flowers and greenery.” It also appeared a cocktail hour was held outside in a garden space.
Beyond being a beautiful and private location to get married, the hotel also has personal significance for the pair. Schwarzenegger’s great-uncle John F. Kennedy and his wife Jacqueline Kennedy spent their honeymoon at the property, and there is even a suite there named after the famous couple.
The resort is a popular wedding destination among celebrities. Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin got married there in 2003, Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson said “I do” there in 2014, and Lily Aldridge wed Kings of Leon frontman Caleb Followill at San Ysidro in 2011.
