Inside Southwest Florida High School Sports newsletter gets you ready for this week's games

The fall 2022 high school sports season is in full swing and the Southwest Florida sports team is here to keep you up-to-date on all the action.

Hi, this is Ed Reed, and I'm the high school sports editor at The News-Press, Naples Daily News and the USA Today Florida Deputy Sports Editor.

So what will you get?

Every Thursday we'll deliver our best stories, photos, and videos to your inbox so sit back and enjoy.

We have an exciting slate of football games with some killer matchups this week.

Richard Young, Lehigh, is the No. 1 recruit in the Naples Daily News and News-Press' Big 15 for 2022. Cars provided by and photos taken at Naples Luxury Imports.

We'll start with our national TV game as Lehigh will host Lake Gibson Friday at 8 p.m. in a game being aired on ESPNU. It'll give the nation a chance to see Alabama commit and the top senior running back prospect in the Class of 2023 Richard Young.

Other big games include Dunbar at Bishop Verot, North Fort Myers at South Fort Myers, and the old rivals, a renewed Immokalee program at Naples. We have previews and predictions for all the games in Week 2.

And don't forget, there was Labor Day action so catch up on the three games played Monday morning.

Gateway hosts Cape Coral in a high school football matchup on Monday, Sept. 5, 2022, at Gateway High School. The game was delayed by storms on Friday night.

We'll also keep you updated every week as schedules change and games end. You can find the entire 2022 high school football schedule updated weekly.

And here are some things you may have missed from earlier in the week. We released our football and volleyball Top 10 rankings and we are rounding up all of the week's non-football results with our weekly high school roundup.
