Tony Award-winning choreographer, dancer, actress, singer and muse of Bob Fosse Ann Reinking didn't just captivate on stage. The late Broadway star glittered in real life too, thanks to a fabulous jewelry collection. Several of Reinking's pieces are so important that they are part of Bonhams' latest New York Jewels sale which begins today.

With her piercing blue eyes and a sparkling personality, it's no surprise Reinking had a penchant for sapphires and diamonds, which is highlighted by the 26 pieces from her collection that are featured in the auction. Many of these pieces are ones Reinking picked up during the '70s and '80s when she began appearing on the red carpets of prestigious awards shows. Diamonds and sapphires are a prominent theme of this sale, as a ceylon sapphire and diamond ring by Bulgari and a Kashmire sapphire and diamond ring lead the auction.

Reinking wore the Tiffany & Co. sapphire and diamond earrings and necklace featured in this auction while presenting at the 1983 Academy Awards, as well as in publicity photos. Other notable pieces of hers from this auction include a double-row diamond necklace by Hammerman Brothers, a ruby and diamond necklace by Cartier, and a gold opal necklace.

It's not just a Broadway enthusiast or jewelry expert who will understand the provenance of these pieces. Reinking's influence spans across the stage, studio, and screen. After several years of being part of ensembles in shows like "Cabaret," "Pippin," and "Coco," she dazzled in a starring role Roxie Hart in Fosse's original production of "Chicago" and returned for the 1996 revival as Roxie and as the show's choreographer, which earned her a Tony Award for her modern take on Fosse's vision. "Chicago" is still an active production and one of the longest-running shows on Broadway.

Reinking also appeared in movies such as 1979's "All That Jazz," a semi-autobiographical movie about Bob Fosse; 1984's "Micki & Maude," and most notably in the original film adaptation of Annie in 1983, where she dazzled as Oliver Warbucks's secretary Grace Farrell. Reinking's experience as Fosse's muse, protege, and love interest was most recently documented in FX's "Fosse/Verndon" in 2019. The stage icon died in December 2020 but her legacy lives on through the continued popularity of "Chicago" and now this dazzling collection of jewels that are as elegant and graceful as she was.
