Instruments, ignitions and lots of ice: What to do in West Michigan this weekend

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Grab your jackets because no matter where you’re headed this weekend, you’ll probably be surrounded by ice, even if the temperature is above freezing.

Here’s a look at what you can do the weekend of Feb. 2:

Michigan International Auto Show

Thursday marks the beginning of the annual Michigan International Auto Show in Grand Rapids.

DeVos Place will once again host the four-day-long event where car manufacturers flood the space to showcase their new vehicles, technology and other innovations.

Holland on Ice

Downtown Holland will transform into a winter wonderland this weekend with the return of Holland on Ice.

Over 10,000 pounds of ice will be sculpted starting Friday night into Saturday and there will be a 5K race that’s new this year.

South Haven Ice Breaker Festival

South Haven welcomes the 30th annual Ice Breaker Festival back to town this Friday.

Enjoy three days of winter fun including sled races, a disc golf tournament and a chili cookoff. The festival is free to attend.

St. Joseph Ice Fest

Another cold weather classic is taking place in St. Joseph this weekend.

Starting Friday, it’s the return of the annual Ice Fest where you can check out an ice carving competition, scavenger hunt and even more activities for the whole family to enjoy.

Dowagiac Ice Time Festival

Saturday will be a great time in Dowagiac for the Ice Time Festival.

The all-day affair kicks off at 8 a.m. with some live ice sculpting followed by a wide variety of activities. It all ends with a free showing of the movie “Frozen.”

Disney on Ice at Van Andel Arena

Van Andel Arena will turn into the Happiest Place on Earth this weekend, and your favorite Disney characters will be making an appearance.

Disney on Ice’s “Mickey’s Search Party” will have eight performances from Thursday to Sunday for you to enjoy with the whole family.

‘Harry Potter’ in concert at Miller Auditorium

One of the most iconic movie scores will be brought to life this weekend at Miller Auditorium.

A live orchestra will be on hand to play the music during showings of “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.”

Muskegon Snowfest

Enjoy the great outdoors this Saturday in Muskegon for the annual Snowfest celebration.

Saturday is National Ice Cream for Breakfast Day, and Sweet Temptations in Grand Haven has the perfect way to celebrate.
