The operation collected "valuable information for Ukrainian military intelligence" which will not be disclosed for obvious reasons, he said.

Some of this data, which he briefly characterized as "the emperor has no clothes," was made available to the whole world. Yusov hinted at the exhaustion of Putin's power apparatus and Russia's vulnerability to internal attacks.

The current task of Russian partisans is to liberate the state from the Putin regime, he said, adding that the resistance forces operate both in the border villages of Russia and "in the capital region of the aggressor state," meaning Moscow.

"Their task now, if we are talking about Belgorod Oblast, is to liberate these lands from the domination of the Putin regime, which for the inhabitants of these territories — representatives of different peoples, different nationalities — is obviously a regime of internal occupation," Yusov explained.

“If we are talking about people who have a higher level of political conscience, then this is not even an internal occupation. It is, in fact, a direct external occupation, for example, if we are talking about the peoples of the Caucasus or Tatarstan.”

Yusov warned that Ukrainians should not overestimate the Kremlin's reaction to the operation of the Russian Volunteer Corps and the Russian Freedom Legion in Belgorod Oblast in the context of the frontline situation.

Russian leadership, however, is still forced to regroup its troops in response to the events in the region.

Yusov called the breakthrough of volunteers across the border an unconditional consequence of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

"Geographical and political names of territories can change," he noted.

“The territory that is currently called the Russian Federation — it includes various historical lands that were called differently at different stages — today it has this name, but we will see.”

Russian Volunteer Corps and the Freedom of Russia Legion soldiers held a press conference on May 24, following their raid on Belgorod Oblast of Russia.

Here are the key statements:

  • The saboteurs went 42 km deep into Russia and controlled some settlements in Belgorod Oblast for a day.

  • During the raid, the fighters managed to seize Russian armored vehicles and weapons, as well as destroy a certain amount of equipment on the territory of the aggressor state, take prisoners, and take military documents.

  • The active phase of the operation is over, the operation itself continues "in a different format".

  • The saboteurs' losses amounted to two people killed and ten wounded.

  • The RDK and Legion used equipment on the territory of Russia that the aggressor state "once took away from the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Bakhmut" and they "took the trophies back". They claimed to have suffered no equipment losses.
