Intelligentsia, Oatly, Stumptown, Premier Protein, and Other Drink Brands Recalled Due to Potential Bacterial Contamination

More than 50 products made by Lyons Magnus may contain the dangerous bacteria Cronobacter sakazakii

Some of the drinks involved in the Lyons Magnus recall.

A wide variety of packaged beverages, including plant milks, protein drinks, and cold-brew coffees, sold under various brands have been recalled by Lyons Magnus.

The manufacturer says that the products did not meet commercial sterility specifications and that there’s a risk they could be contaminated with microorganisms, including Cronobacter sakazakii.

No illnesses have been reported. Cronobacter sakazakii is the bacteria that triggered a recall of powdered infant formula earlier this year. The bacteria was linked to at least two infant deaths.

None of the products involved in this current recall are meant for infants (children under 1 year old).

The full list of the products is below. (For UPC codes, lot codes, and best-by dates, see the Food and Drug Administration recall announcement.) If you have any of the recalled products, don’t drink them. Instead, return them to the store where you bought them for a refund or dispose of them.

Cronobacter infections are rare, and they’re most likely to affect very young infants, people over age 65, and those who may have a weakened immune system from being sick with other conditions or who are receiving medical treatment.

Lyons Magnus did not immediately respond to CR’s request for comment.

Consumers with questions about the recall can call Lyons Magnus at 800-627-0557 or go to its website.
