Intense video shows oblivious truck driver drag a car with someone in it

An intense video captured on a California freeway shows a large tractor trailer truck dragging a car, seemingly unaware the two vehicles had gotten into an accident.

Witness Brian Steimke was driving up the Cajon Pass when he pulled up on the truck dragging a maroon Nissan Maxima.

"They're dragging the car," Steimke can be heard saying in the clip, amazed by what he's seeing. "They don't know what's going on here."

When Steimke pulls alongside the vehicles, the driver in the car being dragged unrolls the window and is waving at the truck driver to stop.

"He's not stopping," the man says to Steimke as he drives past.

A group of motorists managed to get in front of the truck, which was pulling two trailers, and force it to a stop on the side of the road.

Steimke approaches the truck driver after coming to a stop, and asks him why he continued to drive.

"I didn't know it," the truck driver responds, seemingly unaware that he had been in an accident and had been pulling a car.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the truck, which was hauling 50,000 pounds of carrots, was traveling up the pass when it approached a slower-moving truck. When the carrot truck attempted to pass the slower vehicle, it merged into another lane and hit the Nissan, KTLA reports

The driver of the truck claims to have no idea that a collision occurred. CHP said that the man showed no signs of impairments and he was allowed to leave the scene.

The driver of the Nissan was not seriously injured, and was dragged less than a mile.
