Inter Miami season ticket holders shocked at steep price increases for 2024 renewals

Inter Miami season-ticket holders received renewal information for the 2024 season via email on Thursday and within minutes some fans were expressing shock and outrage on social media about the price increases.

Individual game ticket prices skyrocketed when Argentine star Lionel Messi joined the team in July, and season ticket prices are following suit.

In most cases, the prices have doubled. The cheapest season ticket in 2023 was $485 in the north stands, which came to $28.50 per game for 17 home games. That same section will cost $884 in 2024, which is $52 per game. There is a discount for fans who renew early by Oct. 7.

A $3,600 ticket in the lower-level midfield club section for the current season is now going to cost $7,650, or $450 per game. Those seats include access to a lounge area with premium food and beverage options. Premium loge packages are being advertised at $42,840 to $45,900.

By comparison, the average NFL ticket in 2022 was $112, with season tickets ranging from $300 to $4,500 for eight home games. The average NBA ticket was $94, with NBA season ticket packages ranging from $1,200 to $82,000 or $30 per game to $2,000 per game for 41 home games.

Season ticket holders who want to switch to a cheaper seat can do so and get priority for other sections.

Although Inter Miami’s new ticket prices are in line with other U.S. pro sports, some fans were not happy.

“This is so disappointing…pricing out the supporters that were part of your club BEFORE Messi and the casual influx is such a bad look,” wrote one fan with Twitter handle @vetchy_. “Those are the people who should be rewarded and get to enjoy this new era. Horrible.”

“There should at least be some kind of loyalty reward that freezes the ticket price for existing season ticket holders from the pre-Messi era,” wrote James Nalton. “If existing season ticket holders can’t afford to renew, Inter Miami know someone will take their place and pay the new higher price because Messi is there now. A pretty rubbish thing to do to existing fans.”

The email from the club read:

Season ticket packages include access to exclusive member only events including Annual Fútbol Fiesta, open practices, member only watch parties, discounts at the team store and concessions, and priority access and pricing to other events at DRV PNK stadium.
