Interactive fan experience testing UGA knowledge, showing off memorabilia and more in Los Angeles

Until thousands flock to Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium for the national championship game on Monday night, fans can still fill their weekend with college football at Fan Central.

Denis Crawford, the historian and curator at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta, took Channel 2′s Sophia Choi on a personal tour through all things UGA at Fan Central.

The interactive experience is being held in 300,000 square feet of the downtown Los Angeles convention center, 15 miles away from SoFi Stadium.

Fans can take a peek at some UGA memorabilia, including a 1965 Uga sweater, Vince Dooley’s coaching jacket and a signed photo of Pro Football Hall of Famer Charley Trippi.

Both Dooley and Trippi died in October within 10 days of one another.

“I don’t want people to forget people like Dooley and Trippi, so it was very important to me that we included that in the display,” Crawford said.

He says UGA could make new history on Monday night with back-to-back championship wins.

“It would be the first time in the college football playoff era that we’ve had a back-to-back champion,” Crawford explained.

To get everyone hyped up for that possibility, fans can check out memorabilia, play games, get their face painted virtually and answer trivia questions.

“We hope you have a great time. We hope you paint your face. We hope you learn about tailgating. But if you also learn some sociology about the sport, we’re going to be very happy with that too,” Crawford said.

Dillon Fleming, 10, and his father Lee are having plenty of fun with everything they have to offer.

“This is great for him to come, just go through the exercises: Throw the football, kick the football, run through the tires,” Lee Fleming said.

UGA fans are hoping the history between the Dawgs and the TCU Horned Frogs on display repeats itself. In the two schools’ five meetings, UGA has won the last four times.
