If you’re looking for a high-paying gig but don’t want to move away from Charlotte, you’re not alone.

A recent survey from career coaching firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas found that the share of job seekers who relocated for new positions dropped to 1.6%, the lowest rate on record, during the first quarter of 2023.

The good news is plenty of lucrative job opportunities in the Queen City.

The City of Charlotte currently has nearly 100 job openings, and some of those positions pay upwards of six figures.

New city employees also receive various benefits, including paid vacation, paid sick leave, medical and life insurance coverage, and more.

Below is a list of city agencies with open positions paying $100,000 annually.

Charlotte Water

Charlotte Water seeks a senior engineering project manager to oversee capital improvement projects and projects for the city’s water treatment division. The department is also seeking a senior engineer to perform engineering analyses on water distribution systems, development and operation of hydraulic models, and participate in improvement projects.

The maximum salary for both positions is $100,429, according to the job listing.

Applicants must have a degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or a related field and at least five years of relevant experience.

Charlotte Water is also searching for a utilities operations manager to oversee four sections within the department: the customer service operations center, residential field services, commercial and industrial services, and meter services.

The job listing says the maximum salary for the position is $100,429.

Utilities operations manager applicants must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited school and five years of related work experience.

Charlotte Department of Transportation

The Charlotte Department of Transportation is seeking a senior engineering project manager to lead the CDOT regulatory review for land development projects, coordination of transportation review, and approval for commercial plans.

The maximum salary for the position is $100,430, according to the job listing.

Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree and five years of experience in transportation engineering, geometric design, traffic analysis, or site design.

The department is also looking for a senior travel demand modeler to conduct and manage detailed analyses of transportation demand and performance using transportation modeling, air quality modeling, and geographic information systems software and databases.

A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, transportation, or urban planning and five years of related work experience is required for the position.
