Diana Lowery, the chairperson of the Stockton Sister Cities Association, came up with a clever idea to display kindness with her Italian counterparts in Parma, Italy.

Lowery, made a request for residents in Stockton to send in their photos that epitomize kindness across the city. The photography show, which they named “Kindness Can Change The World....And It Costs Nothing,” is supposed to highlight the best of Stockton.

This is not a contest to see who’s first, second or third place. It’s to have a collection of images that represent the kindness that can be found in Stockton.

So far, fewer than 20 photos have been submitted but Lowery is hoping for a lot more to come in before the deadline. The photos will be combined with those taken by residents in Parma into a gallery showing of selected prints and a slideshow of all the photos during a reception on Sept. 19 at Stockton City Hall. The ceremony will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the two cities partnership.

The pictures can represent the past or present. You need not send any caption information, in fact, Lowery requests that you don’t. She wants the pictures to speak for themselves.

“We want Stockton’s kindness on display” says Lowery. “Representing to our Sister City Parma, Italy, a variety of acts of kindness. There are many interpretations of kindness and we need everyone to check their phones for that special picture they can submit.”
