International fest, Enos park carnival, sip and shop on tap in Springfield this weekend

Learn about different cultures, attend a carnival, or shop for spring season at events happening in Springfield this weekend.

Here are five things to do:

Our Town

Watch the classic American play, "Our Town" at the Hoogland Center for the Arts, 420 S. Sixth St, this weekend.

The show begins at 7 p.m. on Friday and 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday in the LRS Theatre.

"Our Town" tells the story of life in a mythical village, Grover's Corners, in New Hampshire. The play was written by Thornton Wilder and won a Pulitzer Prize after its debut on Broadway in 1938.

A dessert reception with the cast will follow the Friday show. Tickets for the reception are $26 for adults and $24 for seniors.

International Fest

Celebrate the city’s diversity at the International Fest on Saturday.

The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Lincoln Library, 326 S. Seventh St.

Educational games, books, and activities highlighting a variety of cultures will be available. There will also be performances by local artists. Admission is free.

Enos Park Carnival

Take the family out for a fun day on Saturday at the Enos Park Carnival.

The event will take place from 1-3 p.m. at The Edwards Place Lawn, 700 N. 4th St.

There will be bounce houses, face painting, foam machines and crafts. Free hot dogs and popcorn will be available.

Pine Mountain Logs band ft. Mary Jo Curry

Support the Mary Bryant Home for the Blind and Visually Impaired at a benefit concert featuring the Pine Mountain Logs band and Mary Jo Curry on Saturday.

The band will take the stage at 7 p.m. at Route 66 Motorheads Bar & Grill, 600 Toronto Rd.

Food and drinks will be available. Tickets are $30.

Sip & Shop

Mix and mingle while shopping for goodies at the Sip and Shop on Sunday.

The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Danenberger Family Vineyards, 12341 Irish Rd, New Berlin, IL.

APL Upscale Collectible Sale

The Animal Protective League will hold its annual Upscale Collectible Sale at the former Burling Coat Factory in Town and Country Shopping Center, 2425 S. MacArthur Blvd., from noon to 7 p.m. Friday. Admission is $10.

The sale will continue from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday with a $5 admission fee and all merchandise will be half-price. A clearance sale will go from12:30 to 2:30 p.m. with no admission fee where you can fill your own bag or cart for a donation. All proceeds from APL’s Upscale Collectible Sale will benefit the dogs and cats in its care.

APL’s Mobile Pet Adoption Center will be on site both days during the sale with adoptable dogs and cats.
