Internet service expansion project starts in rural Codington County

A project to expand fiber internet service in rural Codington County is under way.

Anderson Underground, Interstate Telecommunications Cooperative's contractor for the work in the county, has started plowing fiber in the southeastern part of the county near Kranzburg, according to a news release from ITC.

The fiber optic service will be provided to customers who have filled out applications for it.

The work has been awarded a Connect SD grant from the state. Connect SD helps provide reliable, high-speed internet service to homes and businesses across South Dakota.

“The fiber-optic expansion in rural Codington County has started. We have worked with Anderson Underground on previous fiber-optic construction projects, and they continually provide the highest quality level in the industry, Ren Preheim, ITC network operations manager, said in the release.

Multiple construction crews will be installing the mainline fiber and fiber drops, and area landowners will be notified when crews are approaching their area, according to the release.

To sign up for the fiber internet service, call 1-888-201-2929. ITC is a South Dakota cooperative and telecommunications provider.
