The Internet Lashes Out at George Zimmerman After Trayvon Martin Family Calls Lawsuit 'Reckless'

George Zimmerman is once again in the crosshairs of public opinion after the controversial man filed a $100 million lawsuit against the family of Trayvon Martin, the teenager he gunned down in 2012.

36-year-old Zimmerman filed suit against Martin's family, their attorneys and the prosecutors for damages in excess of $100 million.

According to the Sun Sentinel, "The lawsuit alleges 'malicious prosecution' by prosecutors, defamation by both Martin’s defense attorney and a book publishing company, and 'civil conspiracy' by Martin’s family and lawyer 'to put on a false witness with a made-to-order false storyline to try to fraudulently create probable cause to' get a conviction."

One of the key arguments by Zimmerman's attorney is a conspiracy centered around a witness named Rachel Jeantel who allegedly provided false statements to investigators.

According to the lawsuit, "Defendant Jeantel lied repeatedly about having a relationship with Trayvon, about being on the phone with Trayvon in the days and minutes up to his death, and lied about everything she claimed to have heard over the phone in the hours and minutes prior to Trayvon’s death. Defendant Jeantel also lied about her identity, falsely claiming her nickname to be 'Diamond Eugene.'"

George Zimmerman Pleads Not Guilty in Stalking Case

After news of Zimmerman's legal move made headlines, the public took to social media to voice their opinion -- which basically ended up with people letting Zimmerman know that he's a complete piece of garbage.

"We had low expectations but they've been exceeded. Apparently there is a spectrum for how trash a human can be. #GeorgeZimmerman go back to your rightful birthplace on that floating garbage pile in the ocean and dont come back," one person commented.

"Where's George Zimmerman sorry ass gonna get the money to pay the lawyer when his case is used as toilet paper and flushed?" someone else asked.

A third person wrote, "Friends It’s disgusting and unacceptable that #GeorgeZimmerman not only walks free but is now trying to sue grieving parents of the child HE murdered.🤬 This is why we will NEVER be silent and continue to fight for liberation and justice."

"George Zimmerman murdered Trayvon Martin, was acquitted, auctioned off the gun he used to murder a child as an 'American Firearm Icon,' and is now suing Trayvon Martin's family and others for 100m ... What a vile human being. He deserves nothing," another advocate wrote.

Trayvon's Family Responds

Trayvon Martin's mom, Sybrina Fulton, has not yet commented on the lawsuit by her son's killer, as she has been focused on running for office in Florida. Fulton is campaigning for a seat on the Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners and plans to use her hopeful role in politics to continue being a social justice warrior in honor of her son. However, the family's attorney, Ben Crump, called the lawsuit "reckless" and hauled off on Zimmerman.

"I have every confidence that this unfounded and reckless lawsuit will be revealed for what it is -- another failed attempt to defend the indefensible and a shameless attempt to profit off the lives and grief of others."

"This plaintiff continues to display a callous disregard for everyone but himself, revictimizing individuals whose lives were shattered by his own misguided actions. He would have us believe that he is the innocent victim of a deep conspiracy, despite the complete lack of any credible evidence to support his outlandish claims."

"This tale defies all logic, and it's time to close the door on these baseless imaginings."
