Interview with the Vampire has announced a recasting for the second season of the AMC show.
The first season, which was adapted from Anne Rice’s 1976 novel, saw Louis de Pointe du Lac (Jacob Anderson), Lestat de Lioncourt (Sam Reid) and Claudia (Bailey Bass) feast on blood in 1910s New Orleans.
As reported by TVLine, the role of Claudia has been recast, with Delainey Hayles replacing Bass.

Bass, who also appeared in Avatar: The Way of Water, released a statement confirming her departure from the series, saying: “Due to a variety of unforeseen circumstances, I’m unable to return to Anne Rice’s Interview With the Vampire for the second season.
"Playing Claudia has been a dream role and an incredible ride. I wish Delainey the best of luck in taking over. I cannot wait to watch."
AMC released their own statement, in which they congratulated Bass for her work on the series and wished her the best for the future: “Bailey Bass is a talented actor who did a remarkable job bringing the character of Claudia to life.
"For a variety of reasons, Hayles will appear as Claudia in Season two. We are grateful for Bailey’s unforgettable performance in season one and wish her nothing but the best."

The second season is due to begin filming in Prague later this month, with producer Adam O’Byrne previously revealing that the season would likely miss its October slot and instead air in either late 2023 or early 2024.
The next batch of episodes will cover the second half of Rice’s book, with the narrative following Louis and Claudia as they travel across Europe to gain information on their vampiric history.
Interview with the Vampire airs on AMC in the US. In the UK there is currently no broadcaster or release date.
