Wage theft is a crime that has cost California workers an estimated $ 2 billion dollars a year. You may be a victim and not even know it. Even though the Golden State has some of the strongest wage theft laws in the country, it appears state regulators may be violating state laws and failing the workers who need help the most. In collaboration with CalMatters, we’re investigating wage theft in California. In the first of a series of stories, we want to help you figure out if you are a victim of wage theft, and how you can get your money back.

Law enforcement in Hawaii on Wednesday arrested social media model Courtney Clenney on a charge of second-degree murder with a deadly weapon. Hawaii County police said in a statement they assisted the U.S. Marshals Service as they arrested the 26-year-old in Laupahoehoe, which is on the Big Island. Officers used an arrest warrant issued by Miami-Dade County, Florida.
An Asian Australian YouTuber was recently subjected to racist insults while covering an exclusive boat show in Sydney. John Lee, who shares fishing videos on his YouTube channel JYL Fishing TV, uploaded footage of the harassment he allegedly endured at the Sydney International Boat Show in Cockle Bay.

A woman who went to wash clothes in her laundry room in Central Florida never made it out early Monday, authorities say.
Cellphone video from Dockweiler Beach shows a group, suspected to be in their late-teens or early 20s, brutally attacking a street vendor. According to authorities, at least three members of the group have been arrested for their involvement.
Following the devastating rainfall in Seoul that left at least eight dead and seven others missing, a man who was photographed marooned on top of his car has become a meme in South Korea. Internet users in South Korea edited the image and created various memes imitating advertisements and movie posters. One example shared in a TikTok video compilation of the memes resembles a Genesis G90 advertisement, while another shows a helicopter flying above the man’s vehicle as if he is the target of a dramatic rescue operation.

BEIJING (Reuters) -A Beijing court on Wednesday dismissed an appeal by a plaintiff in a high-profile Chinese sexual harassment case involving a well-known host of state broadcaster CCTV, a decision likely to deal a blow to China's #MeToo movement. Zhou Xiaoxuan, 29, accused one of CCTV's premier entertainment show hosts, Zhu Jun, of groping and forcibly kissing her in 2014 when she was an intern working for him, allegations he denies. Zhou’s accusations, posted on social media in 2018, quickly went viral and she sued Zhu for damages that year.

Police arrest machete-wielding man in Honolulu Chinatown; suspects who struck him with SUV wanted for attempted murder
Police arrested a man for allegedly threatening people with a machete in Honolulu’s Chinatown. Honolulu Police Department arrested the 30-year-old man on suspicion of first-degree terroristic threatening on Monday night on North Beretania Street, Chinatown. The man threatened two women, ages 19 and 21, and a 23-year-old man with a machete during an altercation in the 100 block of North Beretania Street at about 9:50 p.m., according to the police.
Memphis Police released images of a brazen crime. The pictures show three men holding high-powered weapons. Memphis Police said those men used those weapons to “open fire” and kill a man outside of a Memphis motel.
