Investigation ongoing after Friona teacher, Dimmitt man found dead in Castro County

The Department of Public Safety Texas Rangers on Tuesday continued helping the Castro County Sheriff's Office and the Friona Police Department with a death investigation after two bodies were found off a roadway in the area Saturday night.

After about 10 p.m. Saturday, two deceased individuals were found off of FM 1057, roughly 13 miles outside of Friona in Castro County, officials said. The dead were identified as 27-year-old Adilene Adame, of Friona, and 37-year-old Osiel Rodriguez of Dimmitt.

Adame was a teacher and coach at Friona High School.

"The Friona Community and Friona ISD tragically loss (cq) one of their own this weekend. Coach Adame exemplified what it meant to be a Chieftain and Squaw. Please keep her family and the community of Friona in your prayers," said Friona High School coach/teacher Eduardo Rojas on Twitter.

The bodies of Adame and Rodriguez were sent to Lubbock for autopsy.

"It is with a heavy and loving heart that we welcome our students tomorrow morning. We will have the Region 16 Crisis team and counselors from neighboring schools to help our students and staff cope with the tragedy of losing a loving, vibrant, beautiful, intelligent teacher and coach. Ms. Adame will forever be in our hearts," Friona High School Principal Erika Montana said on Facebook.

The investigation is ongoing. There is no further information at this time.

As of Tuesday afternoon, a GoFundMe page set up for an Adame memorial fund had raised $17,430 toward its $20,000 goal.

Friends who started the fundraiser shared a brief message remembering Adame.

"Our hearts are broken and shocked to see such a bright light taken from the world," the message reads. "Kindness radiated from her. Her hard work was inspirational. Her friendship unequalled. Addie loved everyone well. Addie was made of everything we should all hope to be. Rest In Peace you beautiful soul."
