German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has affirmed his country’s unwavering support for Ukraine, assuring continued assistance despite potential reductions from other nations, during a conference of his party, the SPD, on Dec. 9, according to the German publication n-tv.

Ukraine's energy system recorded an exceptionally high level of electricity consumption for this heating season in the early hours of Dec. 7., reported state power company Ukrenergo.

●       Ukrainian business optimistic as truck purchases grow

A total of 1,031 new commercial vehicles (trucks and special vehicles) were sold in the Ukrainian market in November, marking a 6% increase compared to the previous month, Ukrainian car industry UkrAutoprom reported on Telegram on Dec. 7.

Investment company Dragon Capital has revised its economic growth projection for Ukraine in 2023 to 5.2%, up by 0.7 percentage points, despite external financing risks, the company reported on Dec. 8.

The European Union will find a way to provide financial and military assistance to Ukraine, even if Hungarian PM Viktor Orban vetoes the planned allotment of EUR 50 billion ($55 billion), Reuters reported on Dec. 8.

●       US hopes that Ukraine aid will force Russia to negotiate by end of 2024— official

Sustained Western aid to Ukraine will compel Russia to negotiate on terms favorable to Kyiv by the end of 2024, U.S. Deputy National Security Adviser Jonathan Finer said on Dec. 8.

●       Ukraine's Foreign Ministry says Moscow’s vote in occupied territories ‘illegal’

Any voting during the sham Russian presidential election on March 15-17 in the occupied territories of Ukraine will be "illegal, and null and void," Ukraine's Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Dec. 9.
