Iowa high school football playoff final scores: Valley, Ankeny, Southeast Polk headed to UNI-Dome

One of the biggest Friday nights in the Iowa high school football season is finally here.

The quarterfinals of the high school football playoffs get underway in six classes tonight.

What's at stake? A trip to the UNI-Dome. Class 5A, 4A, 3A, 2A, 1A and A teams will all battle for a spot in Cedar Falls. And we'll have plenty of coverage along the way.

Cody Goodwin will be at tonight's game between Dowling Catholic and Southeast Polk. Alyssa Hertel will be at West Des Moines as Valley hosts Pleasant Valley. Dargan Southard is covering Iowa City High at Cedar Rapids Kennedy. And Joe Randleman on hand for Nevada's game at Harlan.

We'll keep you updated on all the action here throughout the evening.

Waverly-Shell Rock's defense comes up big in the win over the Blue Jays.

9:20 p.m. - Iowa City High headed to the UNI-Dome

What a season for Iowa City High. What a coaching job by first year coach Mitchell Moore.

Top-ranked Harlan continued its undefeated season, improved to 11-0 on the year and secured a spot at the UNI-dome with a win over Nevada.

8:57 p.m. - A huge touchdown for Iowa City High

Iowa City High has been in a big battle with Cedar Rapids Kennedy tonight. City High may have delivered a game-winner, though.

8:54 p.m. - Dowling Catholic/Southeast Polk headed to the fourth

Time is ticking on the Maroons. But if the last matchup showed us anything, it's that this is far from over.

8:46 pm. - West Hancock headed for the UNI-Dome

8:44 p.m. - Iowa City High and Cedar Rapids Kennedy headed to the fourth quarter

Iowa City High, which had a strong start, is still holding on to its early lead. This should be a good fourth quarter.

8:41 p.m. - Valley opening its lead on Pleasant Valley

A nice response from Valley which scores after a big touchdown by Pleasant Valley.

8:35 p.m. - Dowling Catholic/Southeast Polk update

What a game this has been. The second half has had plenty of exciting moments, especially for the Rams who have the lead.

8:33 p.m. - Harlan in complete control

Top-ranked Harlan not having any issues tonight.

8:31 p.m. - Have yourself a night, Mathew Francis

The West Hancock star has already rushed for over 1,000 yards this season. Look at the numbers he's putting up tonight, too.

8:28 p.m. - Indianola takes the lead

It has been a successful season for Indianola which dropped down a class. Indianola now has the lead in the second half. We'll keep close tabs on this one.

8:24 p.m. - What a start to the second half between Dowling Catholic and Southeast Polk

8:19 p.m. - Ankeny is in complete control

The Hawks are rolling on offense and defense. They already have a pair of second half touchdowns.

West Des Moines Valley jumped out to a 12-0 lead over Pleasant Valley. But Pleasant Valley has reached the end zone and has started to get some momentum.

7:47 p.m. - Plenty of offense between Dowling Catholic/Southeast Polk

We could be in for a lot of scoring between the Maroons and Rams tonight.

7:45 p.m. - Valley takes a 12-0 lead

West Des Moines Valley has a pair of first half touchdowns but a missed PAT and a failed two-point conversion.

We've got a tie game. Oh buddy. What a game this is going to be.

7:27 p.m. - Round 2 of Dowling Catholic/Southeast Polk headed to the second quarter

Looks like we could be in store for another close call between the two teams tonight.

7:25 p.m. - Keep an eye on Nevada

We should have a good Class 3A game between Nevada and undefeated Harlan tonight. Nevada's defense has already forced a big turnover.

7:23 p.m. - Iowa City High pads its lead

What a start for the Cinderalla story, Iowa City High.

7:21 p.m. - Dowling Catholic/Southeast Polk: Round 2

The first showdown between the two teams ended in dramatic fashion. The second one could be a fun one as well. Southeast Polk is the first to strike.

7:17 p.m. - West Des Moines Valley takes an early lead

The Tigers are taking on Pleasant Valley in a Class 5A showdown. Valley quarterback Mason Morrow just fired a nice touchdown pass to Notre Dame recruit Eli Raridon to give the Tigers the lead.

7:14 p.m. - Iowa City High: What a story

Iowa City High might be the surprise story of the entire state. Coach Mitchell Moore guided City High to a 9-1 season and a win away from the UNI-Dome. His team is off to a strong start tonight with an early lead.

7:10 p.m. - What a start for Waverly-Shell Rock

Class 4A has a good matchup of a pair of one loss teams in Waverly-Shell Rock and Bondurant-Farrar. After Bondurant-Farrar punted on its opening possession, Waverly-Shell Rock got the ball and wasted no time.

7:07 p.m. - West Delaware strikes first

We've got a huge game in Class 3A between West Delaware and undefeated Solon. West Delaware has struck first in what should be a really good game.
